Iraq Vets 25 Mile Ruck March to Valley Forge DAY #1
7. March 2008 by admin.
Jason Washburn delivers rationale, basis, & Mission Statement of IVAW’s 25 Mile Ruck March, highlighting the 1777 Winter Soldiers, who freed us from King George
Big Red 1 (1st I.D.) Cavalry Scout, and Combat Vet, Steve Mortillo is the brains of the of the “Ruck March”, and the President of the Philly Chapter of IVAW.
Recently returned Iraq Vet, Staff Sgt Jesse Henderson ( also a Drill Instructor ) gave a stirring account of how we A.D. & Vets have all taken an oath to Protect & Defend our Constitution against ALL enemies, Foreign & Domestic, including our treasonous Commander-in-Chief, George Dubya Bush, as violator #1
Joe Bangert, looking a bit older than he did in the movies Winter Soldier Investigation, 1971, and “Sir, No Sir”, dances @ the Rocky statue.
Joe, and other original VVAW 1971 Detroit Winter Soldier Investigation Philly panelists, Jon Beitzel, Bill Perry, and Dr Jon Bjornson are integral Support Elements of our 2008 IVAW Winter Soldiers.
Sgt Selena C. spits Army Regs in perfect Rap Rhymes and cadence. Other IVAW Sisters walking on the 25 Mile March included Sgt Kelly D, Tassie McK, and Jenn H. IVAW sisters Lovella C, Amadee B, and Francesca L served in support.
There wasn’t anything easy about the 1st 14 miles, today.
Citizens everywhere loved the IVAW G.I.’s & Marines
With 14 miles down, and 11 to go, Sunday, our heroes relax around TWO bonfires.Temperatures are presently in the low 20’s. These IVAW are NOT, in Thomas Paine’s words, “Sunshine Patriots, but TRUE WINTER SOLDIERS
YA GOTTA LOVE ‘EM !
When they do the final 11 miles today, they welcome all Veterans and associates to join them for the FINAL 2 Miles.
Come to the VALLEY FORGE Visitors Center Parking lot, welcome them, then march the last 2 miles to the final Rally point.
4 p.m., Visitors Center… No banners, flags, signs, agendas.
JUST LOVE FOR OUR WINTER SOLDIERS.
